Joan Fortuny has a background in medicine and epidemiology and academic research experience primarily in the field of cancer epidemiology with a focus on the effect of inflammation-related drugs on the risk of different types of cancer. Prior to joining RTI HS, Dr. Fortuny held positions in the Barcelona Municipal Institute for Medical Research, the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, and the Catalan Institute of Oncology. Dr. Fortuny also worked in the pharmaceutical industry as a therapeutic area lead for neuroscience and ophthalmology, where he led and participated in epidemiological product strategies, submissions to health authorities, pediatric investigation plans, orphan drug applications, risk managements plans, periodic safety update reports, and epidemiology-related health authority questions.
