Ronquest N, La L, Nag A. Characterizing patients with IBD in Japan: epidemiology, symptoms, treatment pathways and humanistic burden. Poster presented at the 2020 Virtual Japan Digestive Disease Week Conference; November 2020.

BACKGROUND: Given the increasing number of therapeutics for inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in Japan, the objective of the current study was to characterize the patient population, focusing on the epidemiology, symptoms, treatment landscape and humanistic burden of ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn’s disease (CD) in Japan.

Pring CM, Skelding-Millar L, Goodall RJ. Expectant treatment or cholecystectomy after endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography for choledocholithiasis in patients over 80 years old? Surg Endosc. 2005 Mar;19(3):357-60.

BACKGROUND: It is recommended that most patients between 18-80 years old, who have had an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for choledocholithiasis, should be offered cholecystecytomy. However, we were uncertain whether this was the correct advice for patients over 80.

Cardiovascular safety of prucalopride in patients with chronic constipation: a multinational population-based cohort study. Drug Saf. 2019 Oct;42(10):1179-90. doi: 10.1007/s40264-019-00835-0

INTRODUCTION: The serotonin 5-HT4 receptor agonist prucalopride is approved in the European Union for the treatment of chronic constipation. This offered the unique opportunity to include real-world observational data on cardiovascular safety in the new drug application for approval of prucalopride in the USA.

BACKGROUND: The serotonin 5-HT4 receptor agonist prucalopride is approved in the European Union (EU) for the treatment of chronic constipation, thus providing opportunity to include real-world observational data on cardiovascular safety to support approval of prucalopride in the United States.

BACKGROUND: Given prior safety experience with other 5-HT4 agonists, an observational cohort study was conducted to evaluate the cardiovascular (CV) safety of prucalopride in support of approval of prucalopride for chronic constipation (CC) in the United States.
